4 basic Vedic's are:
- Rigveda: It is a collection of 1,028 hymns. Begins with a small book addressed to Agni, Indra, Soma and other gods. In each section the hymns progress from longer to shorter ones. But the number of hymns per book increase.
- Samaveda: Consists of 1,549 stanzas taken almost entirely from the Rigveda. Has two major parts. The first part includes four melody collections. The second part includes 3 verse "books".
- Yajurveda- Consists of 1,875 verses that built around the verses of Rigveda. Is the primary source of information about sacrifices during Vedic times and associated rituals.
- Atharvaveda- consists of 760 hymns and about 160 of them are in common with the Rigveda. Is the " knowledge storehouse of atharvanas, the procedure for everyday life".
