II- King of Macedonia that dreamed to take control of Greece and take control
of Persia’s vast wealth
Macedonia-
Was a kingdom located just north of Greece, that had rough terrain and cold
climate
Alexander
the Great- Son of Philip II, that took over his fathers’ role of being king of
Macedonia
Darius
III- was the king of Persia
1. Philip II organized
his troops into phalanxes of 16 men across and 16 deep, each armed with an 18-
foot pike. He used this to break through enemies’ lines and then sent cavalry
to crush his disorganized opponents.
2. He was more
interested in expanding his empire than in governing it. So, he became
adventurous and conquered other parts.
3. Antigonus, Ptolemy, and
Seleucus all took over some time of role. But they ignored the democratic
traditions of the Greek polis, and governed with complete power over their
subjects
