Review day


  • 3 people who settled in Rome Etruscans, Latin Greeks ( Latins came first)
  • latin settled on Tiber river on the Palatine hill
  • Lucius Tarquinius Superbus was the seventh and final king
  • Lucretia- horrible family and their terrible behavior made them never subject to the rule of kings ever again

  • The US had a supreme court with nine members and a lifetime term

  • 80 soldiers- a century 
  • the first Punic war was a naval battle over Sicily (23 years) Rome won
  • the second Punic war was when Hannibal attacked Rome from the north and lost 
  • Third Punic war Rome destroys and burns all of Carthage and enslaved 50,000 people
  • Latifundia were big farms that became massive estates
  • the poet Juvenal said Rome anxiously hopes for two things: bread and circuses
  • julius caesar is a highly successful general who conquered the huge territory of Gailie
  • Pompey, Crassus, and Caesar were the first triumvirate
  • crossing the Rubicon, no return
  • Caesar was a consul and appoints himself governor of Gaul
  • Adopted son Octavian takes over ceasars power
